The Enkei T6R: A Budget Friendly Performance Wheel

Enkei is one of the biggest names in the world of aftermarket wheels. Known for iconic designs and wheels that provide the perfect balance between function and form. The Enkei T6R is another wheel in the extensive lineup from Enkei that does this really well and comes in at an affordable price point. In today’s blog, we’re going to take a look at everything you’d need to know before picking this wheel up.

Iconic Six Spoke Design

Six spoke wheels are an iconic design in the aftermarket wheel industry, and for good reason! It’s hard to find a car that this style of wheel doesn’t work well with. However you might notice that the Enkei T6R shares quite a resemblance to a very popular six spoke wheel known as the Volk TE37. Which begs the question; Is the Enkei T6R a rep? Since the Enkei T6R shares more than 80% of its design features with the Volk TE37 we have classified it as a replica wheel design.

Advanced Construction with MAT Technology

The Enkei T6R uses Enkei’s Most Advanced Technology (MAT), combining low pressure casting and forging to create a wheel that is lighter and stronger than traditional cast wheels. This is the same process that is used to make the more popular wheel from Enkei; the RPF1. This process ensures that the T6R offers superior strength while reducing the overall weight of the wheel helping with acceleration, braking performance, and steering response.

Is the Enkei T6R made in Japan?

The Enkei T6R is made in Japan! However, you may be surprised to learn that not all Enkei wheels are made in Japan. There are many wheels in the Enkei lineup that are made in factories outside of Japan. Including China, Thailand, and Taiwan. Many of the popular wheels in the Enkei lineup that feature Enkei’s MAT Technology are made in Japan versus other countries.

Enkei T6R Vehicle Fitment

The Enkei T6R is offered in limited sizes with 17 and 18 inch diameter options that are meant to fit most modern sports coupes and sedans. With bolt patterns and offsets favoring cars such as the Honda Civic Type R, Subaru WRX, Infiniti Q60, Volkswagen Golf GTI, and Subaru BRZ/Scion FRS.

Enkei T6R Finishes

Enkei typically keeps it pretty mild when it comes to the finishes on their wheels. However that means that you are pretty much guaranteed to find a finish that works well with the color of your car. The Enkei T6R is offered in three  beautiful finishes that includes a Matte Bronze, Gloss black, and Gloss Gunmetal.

Is the Enkei T6R Worth it?

When it comes to the quality, construction, and benefits you can get with going with a wheel such as the Enkei T6R, you would probably expect this wheel to come in at a higher price. Good news! The Enkei T6R is a very affordable wheel with a set of the 17 inch sizes starting at just over $800 per set. Meaning you can get a quality durable wheel under a well respected name in the industry without having to eat ramen for the next two weeks. But let’s be honest, we are probably going to do that anyway.
