Picked up this old Coupé in a field outside Columbus Ohio when I was a Sophomore in High School. Over the next year and a half my Father and I would spend day after day tracking down parts to slowly bring this thing back to life. First came the 1985 Ranger, we removed the body and shoehorned it under the 80yo body with some massaging. Then we tracked down a '66 Ford 289 HiPo V8 after realizing the 302 had a nasty rod knock. Mated that to a 3speed trans and we started to build a floor.
We tracked down some mid 1970's Lakewood traction bars for the rear and an Original Steering Wheel! Started to look for original trim pieces and Other odds and ends.
1 week before we left for Goodguys in Columbus the engine started Knocking.
Turns out I over revved (as a highschooler does.) the tired 50yo V8 and tapped a valve.
So we decided to make like a YouTube project and rebuild it in 1 week for the show.
Added a double timing chain, and hotanked the heads, threw in a big lopy cam and we were off!
Fast forward 6 years,
Now we go to shows all over Northern Ohio together having fun and finding little pieces to add to my dream build.
