1992 Suzuki Cappuccino

July 1, 2025

The Story

This is a 1992 Suzuki Cappuccino. The website does not list the Cappuccino in the drop-down menu when I was making this build thread, lol. Still learning about the car as I go along. I am going for an OEM+ look and feel. This is a lower-to-mid-trim model with wood grain trimmed interior and leather seats. It does not have an LSD, ABS or Driver Airbag, all of which were options when new based on rough Japanese translations from a 1992 brochure I bought from Yahoo! Auctions Japan. No power steering from the factory. Chassis Code: EA11R Body: Convertible/3 T-Top Roof Panels/Targa/Hardtop Coupé - Four configurations in one car. Engine: F6A 660cc (0.66L) Turbocharged 3-Cylinder Transmission: 5-Speed Manual Power: 63 HP (Kei car class restricted) Torque: Unknown but the turbocharger spools quickly from 3000 rpm to full boost around 3500-4000 rpm. Weight: Sources vary online but 1600 to 1650 lbs is generally the ballpark number. Max Power/Torque seems to taper off around 7000 rpm. Redline is technically 9000 rpm in the ECU, although marked as 8500 on the tachometer. If redline is held at 9000 rpm for at least 3 seconds, the ECU kicks in and further limits it to 8700 rpm after the 3 second threshold. Great little car that a friend of mine imported it himself from Japan to Texas (Freeport-Houston, TX area) earlier this year in January 2024. He did the paperwork although he didn't drive it very much while he had it. Shortly after I bought it, I did the Cappuccino's first ever stateside oil change when the mileage/time became due. Thankfully it had a odometer sticker on when the last oil service was done the prior year. This car became my daily nearly immediately after I bought it, taking the place of my 2022 ND2 Miata GT which I concurrently own with this car. The Miata feels like a luxury car compared to this, it's almost unbelievable to comprehend, lol. Instgram profiles for this car are: @theo.nd2 @north.texanography
