This is my 1996 BMW E36 328ic a car that’s been part of my family for over a decade before I took the wheel. Originally, it was my dad’s project car. He spent weekends doing preventative maintenance and taking it out whenever he could. Unfortunately, after being diagnosed with kidney failure, he no longer had the energy to keep working on it. The car ended up sitting in our driveway for a few years, and during that time, I kept asking him how much he’d want for it. At first, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to let it go. He even considered an offer from a neighbor but ultimately turned it down. Then, after I totaled my previous car in an accident, I asked again if he would sell it to me. I didn’t have much to offer I was in a tough spot financially. But he told me that if I could get it running and insure it, it was mine. The next day, I spent hours wrenching under the hood and managed to bring it back to life. That was three years ago, and the journey since then has been incredible. So far, I’ve focused mostly on cosmetic upgrades lowering it on coilovers, fitting larger OEM style wheels, and starting the process of restoring the interior. My goal is to eventually add an M3 kit, repaint it in Boston Green Metallic, and complete a clean, OEM+ style build.
