This car was purchased from PA. I drove 12 hours roundtrip to get it back to my place. After that the car itself was white but the doors were different colors, the front bumper and rear latch were silver and the side mirrors were a matte black color. The car itself was not flattering in the slightest since the body itself isn't well suited for the size of the headlights. I ordered a widebody kit made in Thailand and waited about 8 months to get it shipped overseas. Don't do it. Once I got it, the bodywork began. I am NOT a bodywork master nor have I even done it in my life. After doing a solid week of research on YT, I figured it wouldn't be too bad........ FALSE. It was so time consuming I probably fell in love and out of love with the car a total of 10 times during the bodywork process. I finished it the best I could for the time being, and replaced the entire rear suspension with Battle Version parts. I added Fortune 500 Coilovers and slammed it. I bought a parts car (2nd MR2 Spyder year 2000) to replace basically everything that had major dents or damage. Replaced ALL the body panels on the car minus the driver door so the parts car got its worth. After everything was fitted with the widebody, I then got wheels for the car. OEM are 15x7 I think? I went with 18x9.5 +35 Square setup Anovia Treble wheels to give it a period correct look. (Love the Super Advans) These wheels were wrapped with Michelin Cross Climate 2s - 255/35/18 Square Set up. To fit these wheels, I modified and cut/welded the chassis and front wheel wells. Now they have enough room to turn full lock and not rub. Running 36-38mm 4x100 to 5x100 Spacers from Motorsport Tech. Been driving the car hard on this setup and no problems yet. Love taking turns without the car rocking at all. The wider wheels really plant the car down. K24 Swap is coming to the car and the engine is already being built by 4pistonracing. Nothing crazy but I want the car to make around 330-430hp at the wheels. Looking to keep the 5 speed and add LSD to the car. Yes its a ton of money being thrown at the car, but I couldn't have asked for a better platform to make reasonable power with massive weight reduction on my side. Best decision for a car I could have made.
Car lover, Music Lover. My son loves to help me around with tools so building cars has been our expensive hobby now.
Took my shot at a cheap fun car with lots of potential. Mr2 Spyder Monocraftx Widebody. Did the bodywork myself with the help of my wife (Motivation). Now its a F8 Green Machine. Truely is a Street Legal Go Cart. Learned to drive manual for the first time in my life with this car. Never going back!
