So I've always wanted a mk4 r32 since I was a kid and my brother who is 8 years older than me had a 2004 GTI 24v VR6 in 2006. So being that mk4 r32s are now in the mid 20 thousand dollar range it seemed too unreasonable to buy one for that price and daily it. I moved on to searching for anything else on Craigslist/FB marketplace that I was interested in that was manual and not heavily modified or just had few signs of being abused. This search went on for about 2 years because I also have another daily which is a 06 CRV. I came close a couple times to buying other vehicles such as a couple 2008 Acura TL Type S 6 speed manual cars, and also another 2003 20th anniversary GTI. Both of those fell through for different reasons. The TL type s I couldn't get over the fact that it was inevitable that the dashboard would crack on me if it wasn't already, and that the leather seats were also on borrowed time if you were lucky enough to find some without tears. The 20th anniversary was simply because I had previously owned a 20th anniversary GTI in imola yellow and also a mk4 Jetta GLI 1.8t. Even though I loved both of those cars I just wanted something different. So I kept looking. Then one night at work I came across the TT I own today. It was posted about an hour before I saw it and it was with it 35 miles of where I lived. It was originally posted for 12k. A 2008 Audi TT 3.2 VR6 6 speed manual with 106 thousand miles on it with a clean title. I sent the link to my brother who called me shortly after. We both were unaware that the 3.2 VR6 came in that car with a manual transmission. We were under the impression that it was DSG only for the vr6 TTs. I'm sure you can guess what was going through my head at this time. If I can't get a mk4 r32 this is the next best option. So I emailed the guy about the car and met up with him a few days later on my day off of work. He was a really nice older man, a retired school teacher, who bought the car off the original owner in 2009.The car was mechanically sound at the time and completely unmodified and just had issues with the paint as it was not garage kept. Also the radio had just recently stopped working .He kept good care of it throughout his ownership. The car came with an extensive service history folder to prove. So him and I took it on a long test drive together then he invited me in for coffee and we settled on a price. I would end up paying 10k even for this car and taking it home the following day. Since purchasing the car I've done some maintenance changing fluids, ignition coil pack , plugs , haldex service, and gotten an alignment. I've also done a few things to make it look cleaner and newer. I did a 3 step paint correction and ceramic coat. I got new headlights from a 2012 Audi TTRS, a replica TTRS Grille, matching honey comb fog light covers, tinted the windows, got wheels of a 2007 rs7 19x9 with some Michelin pilot sport all seasons. Some minor things like changing the worn out steering wheel controls and the replacing the 3rd brake light. I've also done the Tampa mod for the exhaust. I have big plans for this car. I'd like to get a HPA water cooled turbo kit ,and redo the entire suspension ,and get a big brake kit, and heavy clutch but this will be over the course of the next few years and I'll be sharing every step of the process on here with you guys !
