I saw a write up on some golf sportwagen with crazy aero and thought "that's crazy but is it even fast?". Although it wasn't breaking any records it made me look into the car and what an is38 (Golf R) turbo was.
The possibilities for mods were near endless with many oem+ and aftermarket parts from the mqb chassis family (gti, golf r, a/s/rs3, etc.).
My qualifications for a new daily were modern, low mileage, larger capacity, AWD, reliable, somewhat quick, with basic tech, all under $20k with intentions of getting to the track for HPDE and whatever follows. So after being less than satisfied with Subaru offerings this golf sportwagen with 4motion (AWD) and a 1.8t with lots of mod support paired to a dual clutch were a no brainer for my new to me daily. Then off I went with mods!
Performance: Macan Front Brakes and MK6 R/MK7 GTI PP Rear Brakes
Performance: DAZA Drivetrain and interior swap. It'll happen one day. Mark my words
Wheels: Hopefully some lightweight 18s to run a proper street setup soon (I regret selling my weds). Konig/Apex are top contenders. track duty 17s to follow
