The Mk7 Jetta landed in 2019 on VW's MQB platform, sharing its bones with the Golf, GTI, and even the Audi A3. Under the hood, every Mk7 Jetta runs the EA211 1.4T (2019-2021) or the EA888 evo4 1.5T (2022+). The 1.4T responds well to a simple ECU tune and downpipe, pushing past 170whp without touching internals.
Wheel fitment on the Mk7 Jetta sits at 5x112 with a 57.1mm center bore. Stock wheels are 16x6.5 ET44. Most owners land on 18x8 ET42 to ET45 for a flush look without pulling fenders. Square 225/40R18 setups clear stock suspension and fender lips on most coilover setups. Go wider than 8.5" and you'll want to roll or pull the rears.
Budget builds start with VWR or H&R Sport springs on stock struts. BC Racing BR and ST Suspension coilovers are the two most common bolt-on kits. Both use 54.7mm front strut bodies, same as the Golf Mk7.
The GLI trim (2019+) adds the EA888 Gen3B 2.0T, an independent rear suspension, VAQ limited-slip diff, and bigger brakes from the GTI. If you want a Jetta that actually handles, the GLI is the only starting point worth considering.
