What is a Rep Wheel?

How we define reps, and why we have a filter for it

Why we're labelling wheels

At MartiniWorks, we believe in transparency and empowerment when it comes to buying car parts. That's why we've developed a unique "rep" filter for wheels. By labeling each wheel that we offer as a Replica Design, Inspired Design, or Original Design, we're removing uncertainty and giving enthusiasts the confidence to make informed decisions about the wheels they put on their car.

Our aim is not to discourage individuals from buying Replica Designs. Instead, if the wheel design is something that matters to the buyer, we can provide that information to them. We're here to educate and inspire enthusiasts to buy wheels that work best for them; regardless of the label associated with them.

What this filter is

This is a way to see from a design and usage perspective if a wheel has heritage in this marketplace.

What this filter isn't

This is not an exclusive determination of wheel quality. All wheels can get damaged, bent, broken, cracked, and damaged. New wheel models or new wheel brands are not automatically reps.

Our Wheel Definitions

To be as objective as we can when it comes to defining these definitions, we've put together a list of key features that we look at.
    Key Features are defined as:
  • Face of Spoke
  • Hub Center
  • Lip Design
  • Design Elements (ie. Emboss/Deboss)
  • Sizing & Bolt Pattern Similarities

What is a Rep Wheel Design?

Replica Design

A design that shares greater than 80% of its key features with an existing wheel design. This is a wheel design that has been utilized in motorsport and/or has heritage in use across the globe.

What is an Inspired Wheel Design?

Inspired Design

A design that shares 40-80% of its key features with an existing wheel design. This is a wheel design that has been utilized in motorsport or is greater than 10 years old and is no longer in production or supported by the original manufacturer.

    Key Elements of this Definition:
  • The Original Wheel Design is no longer in production or supported by the original manufacturer
  • The wheel is present in active motorsports
  • The wheel hosts manufacturing qualities necessary for global sales
  • The wheel features sizing not available from the original wheel production

What is an Original Wheel Design?

Original Design

A design that features less than 40% of its key features with an already existing design which has been utilized in motorsport and is not in production by any preceding manufacturer.

    Key Elements of this Definition:
  • Wheel is commonly accepted as the first of its kind in the market
  • Wheel must meet safety requirements of motorsport use including physical VIA testing & TUV strongly recommended
  • The wheel design must be available in multi-mold configurations

Can Manufacturers Dispute our Labeling?

Absolutely! Any wheel manufacturer is welcome to dispute the labels on their wheels featured on MartiniWorks. To do so, they must supply all required information that would showcase their wheel as being labelled appropriately.

MartiniWorks will reply to any claims within 21 days with an adjustment of label, or with the criteria that refrains our team from adjusting the label.

Manufacturers can contact us via our Contact Us page, or by emailing help@martiniworks.com.
