The Elantra N is Hyundai's first crack at a proper sport sedan under the N division, and they got it right. Built on the i30 N's DNA but stretched into a four-door body, it runs a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four (code-named Theta II) making 276 hp and 289 lb-ft through a six-speed manual or an eight-speed wet DCT.
Underneath, the Elantra N sits on MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear with electronically controlled dampers. The front diff is a mechanical eLSD. Brakes are 13.6-inch front rotors with two-piston calipers. Corner-balanced weight sits around 3,197 lbs for the manual, a hair more for the DCT.
Wheel fitment from the factory is 19x8 +55 wrapped in 245/35R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Aftermarket wheels in 18x8.5 or 18x9 with lower offsets (around +35 to +45) are popular for both track use and daily setups. Going to 18s drops unsprung weight and opens up better tire options in 265 section widths.
For the money, the Elantra N undercuts the Civic Type R and Golf R while keeping up on pace. The mod support is growing fast.
