The VB WRX dropped in 2022 with a new FA24 2.4L turbo flat-four replacing the FA20. More displacement, more torque (271 lb-ft stock), and a broader powerband that pulls harder below 4,000 RPM than the VA ever did. Subaru also moved to the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), which stiffened the chassis considerably over the outgoing car.
The VB kept the 5x114.3 bolt pattern and added drive-by-wire throttle, electronic wastegate control on the turbo, and an 11.6-inch center infotainment screen that looks borrowed from a tablet. From a modding standpoint, the FA24 responds well to bolt-ons. A Cobb Accessport with an OTS Stage 1 map, a Grimmspeed TMIC or FMIC, and a quality J-pipe will wake the car up fast. Flex fuel kits from Delicious Tuning or IAG open up even more power on E85. Suspension-wise, the SGP chassis rewards good coilovers (BC Racing, Fortune Auto, KW) because the factory struts are soft for the platform's potential.
Wheel fitment on the VB runs tight in the rear. Most owners land around 18x9.5 +38 with 245/35R18 tires and need to roll or pull the rear fenders depending on ride height. Stock fender clearance is conservative, so plan for that before you order.
