The L34 Nissan Altima is the 6th generation

The L34 Altima runs a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 66.1mm hub bore. Factory wheel sizes are 16 or 17 inch depending on trim, with the SR and Platinum trims getting the 19-inch option.

It does. The L34 uses a multi-link rear setup, which is a big upgrade over the torsion beam you'd find on some competing midsize sedans. That independent rear gives you actual room to tune camber and toe, which matters if you plan to lower the car or want sharper turn-in. Stock alignment specs are conservative for comfort, so even a mild alignment tweak toward negative rear camber can tighten up the back end noticeably.

Two options. The base motor is a 2.5L inline-four (QR25DE) making around 188 hp. The uplevel choice is a 3.5L V6 (VQ35DD) putting out roughly 270 hp with direct injection. The V6 is the same family as the motor in the Maxima and 370Z, though tuned differently here. Both engines pair with a CVT.

A moderate drop (around 1 to 1.5 inches) on quality coilovers with adjustable damping keeps the ride livable for daily use. The multi-link rear handles lowering better than a torsion beam would, but you'll want a proper alignment after any ride height change. Budget for camber bolts or adjustable rear arms if you go aggressive.

The CVT is the big one. Nissan's Jatco CVTs have a reputation, and while the unit in the L34 is an updated design, it's still worth keeping the transmission fluid fresh. Some owners report a slight drone or hesitation under hard acceleration, which is more CVT behavior than a defect. Beyond that, the QR25 can consume oil if you skip changes, and the infotainment system occasionally has software glitches that a dealer update usually fixes.

It depends on trim. Base models with 16-inch wheels run 215/60R16. The 17-inch wheel trims bump up to 215/55R17. SR and Platinum trims with the 19-inch wheels wear 235/40R19. If you're swapping to aftermarket wheels, the 215 section width is a good baseline for the base suspension geometry. Going wider than 245 on a stock-height L34 starts to get tight in the rear wells without rolling the fenders.
