The Story

6 year build of a Craigslist non-running POS. As I am a child of the 80's and love everything about that era of car design, and having owned two in the 90's, always wanted to own another. And since I'm not a wealthy man and not skilled enough to do everything myself, had to start with a cheap one and build it slowly up from pieces. In the beginning just wanted a good clean stock one. As with most builds, things escalated early as the motor had a hole in it and the factory engine electrics and fuel system are problematic in keeping going with no new parts available. So decision was made to swap in a Lexus V8 which I had some history with on another build. So at this time, a plan began to solidify. To present a top-of-the-line model which never existed. Key components a step above, but not too much. Larger engine, more aggressive spoiler, re-barrelled wheels, digital dash, thicker carpet, nicer materials, top scale bodywork and paint. No flashy colors, no polished engine parts, no carbon fiber, no exessive bling. Every bracket made looks factory. Everything top to bottom looking factory fresh, if just stepped up a bit. Make those who dont know, not even notice. And those who do, take notice. Would like to say there are no compromises but that isnt true. I dont have unlimited funds and have done the best that I could. There are some things I'd like to revisit as time goes on and some tech is more accessible. But in your recent vid you talked about a quality build, very correctly having a cohesive plan. Mine formed early and I've stuck to it, often to my own peril (ie $). In closing, what I've learned. Patience. Determination. And a new motto, only sticker I carry on the car. "Project Cars Anonymous" as this will be my last. I cant think of a thing I could build that would mean more to me than this one. Maybe thats the most important lesson learned. If it doesnt matter to you, it wont to anyone else either. And even if its everything to yourself, doesnt mean it will to others. But it has to to you, or it will never see the finish.
