I found it on Facebook marketplace, saw the red interior and knew I wasn't gonna find another like it, drove 300 miles to Indiana from MKE Wisconsin to go and get it, there was a lot of work to be done but it ran perfectly with transmission only working on reverse, we got a transmission from a newer 1997 C280 with the electronic valve body transmission controller, swapped out the electric for the manual valve body from the old transmission and boom we are in business, running and driving like new.
I wish I knew how simple these cars are to own and repair sooner. Some things look scary cause it's apart of the unknown, but it's the adventure of learning and the experience of ownership that makes life with cars so rewarding.
First road trip was the Helen Georgia from Wisconsin, 2500 miles round trip within 5 days, a set of rear tires and a quart of oil to be added later after the trip was all that was needed. It was scary but it proved itself and I proved to myself that I can do it, and it's not as difficult as it seems.
This car has taught me patience, use my resources, and never ben afraid to ask for help.
