The Story
This B5 A4 came into my life way back in 2018. I was browsing Craigslist (I know... I'm old) and I found an add for this $1200 Audi A4. Description said the trans was bad but overall the car was in ok shape. I decided to go take a look at it and the car ran and drove fine, just wouldn't go into 5th gear. I negotiated down to $800 and took it home. Coincidentally while driving, I decided to try and force it into 5th. Wouldn't ya know, it was never bad to begin with. I did a bunch of minor repairs within the 1st year of ownership. Got it ready for winter duty. For the 2018 and 2019 winter seasons this car got me anywhere I needed to go. In 2020 I bought a pickup truck that would serve as an all year round daily. With no more room to store the A4, I sold it to a close friend who also put it to use as a winter daily. He drove it for a year or so. Then it got sold to another close friend of mine who let it sit in storage for about a year without being driven. I was helping him one day move some things around and he offered to sell it back to me. Without hesitation I said yes. The car was in pretty bad shape at the time. Had some new damage, interior was starting to show its age, clutch was acting up, it needed some love. Over 2023 I started to bring it back to life. New bumper, fender, swapped the entire interior from grey to black, new suspension, new brakes, fixed the AC, and a ton more. Then one day in November the timing belt decided to exit the chat. With that, I had bent valves and a motor that needed a lot of work. The car sat for most of 2024 while I slowly collected parts for it. Finally in late 2024/early 2025 I was able to swap in a new motor with a whole haul of parts. New (used) motor, new turbo, new clutch, new axles, new PVC parts and more. Started daily driving the car full time in 2025 while continuing to make it nicer and nicer. In fall of 2025 I got a cheap commuter that was much better on gas and decided I was going to make this car more of a weekend/summer fun car. My main goal with it is to keep it as OEM+ as possible using period correct parts. The parts aren't easy to find but I'm slowly starting to get there. OEM roof bars, period correct OZRacing SuperTurismo GT wheels, SoloWerks Coilovers, Borla Exhaust, ect. I'm super excited to start bringing this to shows, cars and coffee events, and just cruising in general.
