The Story
I've always loved car design and custom builds. A friend sent me a picture of a Z3 rebody kit where people try to mimic other brands. I saw an opportunity to make my own version that stands by itself. This project is and has been a learning tool. Before starting I had no body work experience but I've always wrenched on my own cars. I just dove in and went for it. I found a clean (albeit high mileage) car in southern California. Brought it to Michigan where I spent the first year replaceling every bushing. Reinforcing a rear subframe (a known issue with these cars) and doing a high mileage maintenace. What do I wish I knew before starting? To not waffle at the beggining and just hop in. I've enjoyed building this from step one. Not at any point did I find myself de-motivated. 11-year old me does a backflip whenever I look at the car.
