When i was younger my Dad showed me a scrapbook from when he was young, in the book were pictures of his old K5 Blazer, pictures of it off-roading, buried to the frame in mud, pulling out trucks twice its size, i became obsessed. For many years i dreamed of having one of my own. February of 2022, my senior year of high school we found the Jimmy, up in superior Wisconsin, 13 hour round trip and i had my dream truck. When i picked it up it was mostly original but in rough shape, but i loved it. Dad and i spent a few weeks getting it road worthy since it hadn’t been really driven for 15 ish years. After we got it going we through a 4” lift and some big tires on it and got it looking better. It has remained mostly the same since as life in general has gotten in the way of continuing the build. It’s got a lot of quirks, the motor is from some other old chevy truck, it’s got mismatched heads, 50 psi of compression in one cylinder, and it leaks just about every fluid you could imagine, but regardless it has been incredibly reliable for what it is. These days it spends most of its time in a storage unit as i don’t have room to permanently store it where i live, regardless i try to take it out at least once a year and every time it starts right up. I have big dreams for Jimmy, and i will never sell it. I want to do a restoration and turn it into the ultimate over-landing road trip vehicle.
