2007 Mazda RX-8

Bought it as my first car back in 2013. Wanted a "jdm" car and had the opportunity to purchase this car. For a back story, the import scene was something I really wanted to be a part of, buying import tuner mags, super street, modified etc. just admiring crazy stylish cars. Fell in love with the cars in the fast and the furious but what really set it of for me, was when I first watched Tokyo drift in the movies. One car that really mesmerized me was hans veilside rx7, and after that I fell hard for custom wide-bodies. Now back to when I first got the car, a year after, I blew the motor, and had it sit until 2019 where I decided I was mechanically capable enough to fix the car. So I rebuilt the motor in 2019 and decided to build my "dream" car. Knowing RX-8s there aren't too many aftermarket options especially wide-bodies, there's rocket vanya/ pandem etc but I felt they were just flares, I wanted something similar to the veilside, so I decided to attempt to make my own kit, with no fiberglassing/ body work experience. The kit is heavily based of the veilside widebody, with hints of re amemiya, and some inspirations of bosozoku. The kit took me 7 years to build, mainly because I contemplated multiple time on whether it was worth continuing or not. Mid build I also contacted gel just because I was so excited to see him putting interest on the RX-8 platform. Now since I "finished" building the kit, it was worth every second of contemplation, long nights of sanding and staring at an unfinished car. No help, just me myself and a driveway. Taught myself to make moulds, learned a lot in the process. I didn't want to got the easy route with this build, because I see it as my forever car. So I decided to learn off my grandma how to use a sewing machine and re upholstered my whole interior. Re built my tail lights to have a bosozoku styled slanted light. And welded up a center exit with a rotor shaped resonator by racing beat, inspired off of the famous Mazda furai. Pieced together my air management system, so I would know the ins and outs of everything. My favorite part of my build is that its far from being a catalogue build.
