The Story
The car started its life in South Carolina and was a gift from My father whom I didn’t know for the first 17yrs of my life. At the time I had a completely thrashed automatic s14 zenki. The outside was trash but the inside was surprisingly mint. Once I started to get to know my father we started to bond over cars. I ended up sucking water into the intake and locking the engine… I was devastated. And shortly after was laid off from my job so I was pretty down in the dumps to say the least. So my dad scoured the depths of craigslist without my knowledge, drove down to SC and bought a clean s14 and drove it back. We lived in the Chicagoland area at the time. So he waited about a month and surprised me with it for my birthday! I couldn’t pick my jaw up off the floor. He opened the garage with the Tokyo drift song playing in the background and rolled it out. Super cheesy but definitely a core memory and gives a cool feeling when I hear that song. In this s14 is where I also learned to drive manual for the first time. Fast forward 15yrs and the car is what you see here. I’ve done everything from blow the engine with a crappy eBay turbo kit to getting off the Mc Donald’s paycheck budget and using quality parts. I was tracking the car in Scca but I recently got out of the army and moved to Fort Worth Texas. So I’m searching and trying to learn the car scene out here. It definitely feels hard trying to make friends in your 30s lol. But I find joy in listening and watching the podcast and all your videos. Watching you guys makes me feel like a piece of that good ol midwestern home. I do have a YouTube channel for the build as well if anyone is interested…… shameless plug. But thanks for all you do and keep up the great content it is really appreciated.
