This is my third Srt-4, my last two were 04's and were both silver. I bought this one last year July of 25 for $2500. Like most of us, I live on Facebook market place and am always looking for the next project. Since having owned my last Srt-4 in 2016, I still had the Srt-4 itch. I found "Amber" on marketplace in the Tampa area, the seller wanted $6000, according to the seller, the car needed a battery, starter and a tune. I knew I wanted that car, however I was not about to spend $6000 for a Srt-4 at the time. A few months passed and I kept watching the ad, the owner dropped the price and then relisted it for $3500, I contacted him and told him I was interested in the car. After a few messages, we agreed on $2500. I rented a trailer and made the hour and a half trip over to Tampa from the Space coast. I was excited to buy the car, however it did not come with the most reliable part on the car which was the wing. While driving to pick up "Amber" I found someone also in the Tampa area who was selling an orange wing for $100. I decided to pick up the wing before stopping to get the car. With the wing in hand, I headed over to meet with the seller and look at the car. As I was speaking with the owner he told me this was his drag/daily driver project, he told me it needed a new starter and it currently didn't run. To keep the $2500 deal I asked to connect a new battery which I purchased for the car to insure the engine spun. After connecting the battery and turning the key, the engine spun a few times. That made me even happier since that immediately eliminated a starter as he previously mentioned being an issue with the car. With the help of his wife and a ratchet strap, we loaded the car onto the trailer. After I signed the title, he handed me a Diablosport trinity T2 hand held tuner which he said was already married to the car. Once I got "Amber" back to my house, I did an inventory of the entire car to get a baseline of what I needed to get her road worthy. From what I observed I knew I got a "crack head deal", "Amber" came with a Borgwarner s256 turbo, agp turbo manifold, Mpx downpipe and Mpx 3" exhaust, Mpx adjustable cam gears, gates blue timing belt, built head with Crane grind 12 cams, DCR oil catch can, a massive cold air intake, Stiffer motor mounts, BC coilovers, Mpx large front mount intercooler, HKS Bov, injector dynamics 1000cc injectors, AGP fuel feed an return lines, aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, Aem boost and wide band gauges and cold A/c after being recharged. I basically purchased parts and got a free running car with it. During the first drive, I noticed the clutch was slipping, after a few weeks of ownership, I decided to replace the clutch, to add to the list of parts, Amber came with a ACT 6 puck clutch and a light weight flywheel. I replaced the Act 6 puck with a new one and also added a AGP forged clutch pivot fork, my mind set is while I'm here I might as well replace what I can. Once a new rear main seal was installed, I reinstalled the flywheel and clutch and made sure I actually had third gear which if you know is a major problem in the SRT-4. Once Amber was put back together I tackled the wire harness which had a few issues with the map sensor and Tps signal wires. Once that was complete, I addressed the bumpy ride from the BC coilovers and replaced just the shocks with a lower spring rate option available to use with the BC coilovers which are the eibach springs. Once that was put back together and the spring rate and damper was dialed into my liking, I began to drive the car. If you've ever owned a SRT-4 you will know that these cars are fast for a short time because something else will break. A few weeks of driving it as a project/weekend driver, I was met with my next issue, the fuel pump was beginning to go out. I replaced the fuel pump with a Deatsche works 340lph fuel pump and reinstalled the tank. Once the car was semi reliable, I began working on the visual esthetics, I stripped the old burnt and purple window tint and went for a clean 5% option. As of today, I am currently working on rust repair which most if not all SRT-4's have near the sunroof. As for the future of this build, I plan on cleaning up the paint, either with the Oem Orange blast color or I will be vinyl wrapping the car. Once that's all finished I plan on having her tuned to run full e-85.
