This build goes back to the year 2022 when I purchased it. One day I casually had a friend from my cousin order some shoes over at Nike. I went to pick up the shoes at his house and saw the Honda Civic Type R parked outside his house. I told him if the car was for sale I was interested in buying it. He told me that it wasn’t his car. It was his cousins car but they let him leave the car there. After the conversation, I grabbed the shoes he ordered for me and headed home. After about 2 weeks from that initial conversation my cousin gives me a call and asked if I was interested in the Type R and I said of course ! The owner of the car later gives me a call and we end up selecting a date in which we both were able to meet and look at the car. The day came and I began to get to know this guy named “Carlos.” Unfortunately, he was going through a hard time with cancer on which he wasn’t able to drive the car anymore and that’s why he wasn’t selling it. We agreed upon a price and the car was officially mine. After a few words he looked over at me and asked “if I beat cancer can you sell it back to me?” I said “if you beat cancer I wouldn’t think twice about selling the car back to you.” We keep chatting and I’m letting him know everything that’s getting done to car as time goes by. Eventually I hear the great news that be beat cancer and was cancer free ! We were all excited for him because we knew he was strong and would beat it ! He told me he didn’t want the Type R back because he sees that it went to a good owner so he picked up a Evo X. We cruised together some days and everything was going well. Until he got diagnosed with cancer again and this time it was worse. He kept me updating and we kept sending our prayers his way. Unfortunately, he ended up not beating it this time around and passed away on Feb 2nd 2024. I got told by his family if I could show up to his funeral because he loved that Type R so much. To the family the Type R was a huge part of him and they wanted the car there. I arrived to Mass once I got there everybody came out of the church. The mom in specific saw the car and told me to begin to floor the car. I did as asked to do and she began to shed tears, looking up to the sky as if to her, her son was speaking out of joy. His relatives told me how much bringing the car meant to them. This moment hit me deep that I had to do something. I went back to the messages that I had with Carlos before his passing. In the messages I asked him “What would you like for me to add onto this car because I know this car has so much sentimental value to you and I would love to have something added to symbolize you?” He told me “ I’ve always wanted the car to have TE37’s with a purple sticker.” The reason behind the purple sticker on the TE37 wheel was because he had pancrea cancer with is known to have a purple ribbon. Looking back at this messages I knew I had to do something and so I went on the hunt for some TE37’s. Not only was I able to get the TE37’s but I told myself “what’s better than having a purple sticker on the wheel spoke?” And that’s when I came up with the idea to also do the whole car a purple color. I got everything done and I was ready to show the world that this was all for Carlos. I had the pictures taken professionally. I was ready to post it when I told a step back because this didn’t feel right to post without asking his wife if she felt okay with me making a post like this. She gave me the thumbs up and told me how much it also meant to her. I later posted the pictures on my Instagram to reveal the new look and the reason behind it. This Honda Civic Type R might seem like just a car to many people but to me it’s more than that. Now we are where we are with the build and there’s no going back.
