This 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 has been my daily, my project, and the car I keep choosing to hold onto. The goal has never been maximum horsepower or building something too compromised to enjoy. I wanted a responsive, reliable street car with sharper handling, usable power, and a clean OEM+ appearance.
Over the years it has evolved through suspension, wheels, supporting modifications, and plenty of maintenance. It currently makes roughly 275–280 wheel horsepower on a Freektune 93-octane tune, which is enough to make it properly quick without losing what makes the car fun.
The next phase is less about chasing power and more about restoring it properly. Paint and bodywork, preventative maintenance, intake-valve cleaning, injector service, and eventually a built motor are all part of the long-term plan. I could replace it with something newer, but I’d rather keep improving the car I already love.
