I always loved the look and proportions of the GTR Z-Tune, but buying a genuine one is just economically impossible these days.
So like a financially responsible adult, I bought myself an GTT instead.
Naturally, I then proceeded to spend an irresponsible amount of money turning it into something inspired by the very car I couldn’t justify buying in the first place.
One of the most important parts of the build was getting the body right. I didn’t want to simply bolt on wide fenders and call it a day.
The original GTT rear quarters were cut out, and the GTR panels were carefully fitted and welded into the chassis, with additional spot welds for reinforcement.
It was a much bigger commitment than installing aftermarket overfenders, but achieving the proper body lines and proportions was worth it.
The rest of the exterior is OEM GTR rear bumper, OEM nismo Z-tune bumper, fenders, skirts and spats, Dry carbon R-tune hood and dry carbon splitter.
I wanted to keep the car’s original GTT identity. The RB25DET NEO is a great engine, and I saw no reason to replace it just because the exterior takes inspiration from a GTR.
But I had to do something to the enginebay situation since the NEO engine bay looks horrible compared to the RB26.
So I pulled the engine, painted the engine bay, refreshed the engine and got it some better head draining and RB26 cam covers with the Mine’s baffle kit and a custom RB25 timing cover.
I also went for a forward facing plenum from Rajab racing with an R33 Throttlebody, Greddy intercooler, upgraded OEM turbo, Apexi power fc, tomei expreme TI exhaust, and radium fuel rail.
As for the rest of the car it is on Tein Street coilovers, nismo suspension arms, spec clutch and flywheel, bride low max seats, Nismo steering wheel, slotted brakes and work meister s1 3P
18 x 10,5 -1 rear (265/35) semi slicks
18 x 9,5 + 3 front (245/45) semi slicks
And the cherry on top an custom GTT badge for the grill.
So the reasonable GTT is a bit less reasonable now but it is a car I can use every day, track it and dont worry about it being an expensive collector car.
The build took me 3 years, costing way more than intended but ended also being way cooler than I could ever imagine.
