The Story
This car has a lot going on. Full build documented on FT86club.
Started as a fun replacement for my E36 rust bucket addiction. Bought it as a flood car ( running) for $12,000 in 2015.
Drove it NA for years and years. Wheels and tires, did some spirited driving, nothing crazy. Got into tuning with it using BRZEdit.
Fats forward a few years, J02 recall, I was one of the first notified in the country. I documented on FT86club that I'd go for it and post results.
Long story short, it cost me 3 engines, severla years without getting to drive the car at all. I reached out to NHTA, Toyota PR, The Drive, and several other sources to really cause a stir when Toyota first initially denied wrongdoing.
I had photos of the work they were doing as I would drop in unannounced to check in on it since it was taking so long. Eventually, I got a used engine put in by Toyota instead of them having their techs continue to try rebuilding my original block for a 2nd and 3rd time. ( that clearly was a 100k+ junkyard pull) I was so angry and spiteful at this point, I took it and told them they will never hear from me again.
I immediately bought a CXracing turbo kit, put 17PSI through the block, and it shot a rocker through the driver's side valve cover.
NEW ENGINE TIME
IAG stage 1 block, Kelford valve springs, JDL EL manifold with a Boostlab 3076R (BL58x) and the T51r mod.
HKS GTIV coilovers
17x9 Apex ARC-8 wheels and Nitto drag radials. After several revisions, building our own Garrett intercooler setup, a lot of fuel work, it made just over 500WHP.
Still running, stock transmission.
Just bought some KNPs and am going with 275/40 square Falken Azenis RT600+
