The UA6/UA7 Third Generation Acura TL is the 3rd generation

5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 64.1mm hub bore. That bolt pattern is shared with a lot of Honda and Acura platforms from this era, so wheel options are plentiful. If you're shopping used wheels from other Honda/Acura cars, double-check the offset. The TL runs wider fenders than a Civic or Accord, so what clears on those won't necessarily look right here.

Base models came on 17x8 wheels with 235/45R17 tires. The Type-S bumped up to 18x8.5 with 245/40R18 rubber. Most owners modifying these cars stick in the 18-19 inch range. The 18x8.5 to 18x9.5 window is the sweet spot for most street builds.

UA6 covers the 2004-2006 cars, UA7 is the 2007-2008 refresh. The UA7 got revised front and rear bumpers, updated headlights, a slightly different grille, and some interior trim changes. Mechanically they're very similar. The J32A3 (base) and J35A8 (Type-S) carried over. Suspension geometry and mounting points stayed the same, so aftermarket parts generally fit both without issue.

For a car you plan to modify, the Type-S gives you a better starting point. You get the 3.5L J35A8 making around 286 hp versus the base 3.2L at 258 hp. Brembo front brakes, a limited-slip differential, stiffer suspension tuning, and the bigger 18-inch wheels all come standard. If you'd end up buying brakes, an LSD, and coilovers anyway, the Type-S saves you money and headaches. The base car is fine for a daily that gets light mods.

Intake, header, and exhaust are the typical bolt-on path. The J-series responds well to breathing mods. A short ram or cold air intake paired with a header and cat-back exhaust will wake the car up noticeably. Beyond that, you're looking at forced induction to make real power. Supercharger kits exist for the J35 and deliver solid gains without the complexity of a turbo setup. Tuning is important on either engine once you start stacking mods.
