A 3000gt was always my dream car since Gran turismo 1 came out in the 90's, But just finding one was extremely difficult. This build has become more of an R&D platform because theres very little aftermarket support for these cars even for the more desirable Vr4 and typical turbo builds.
This build went the complete opposite direction to an all-motor setup and reducing a ton of weight out of the car. More of a track focused build. Originally wanted to make it specifically to see how much i could squeeze out of the 6g72 without forced induction. Only 2 or 3 attempts have ever been tried and the most achieved was 280whp which isnt that much. And those builds used a lot of oem parts so I saw a lot of room for improvement. Then it evolved into a track car weighing around 2500lbs with the engine making 305whp at 8800rpms which is the record so far. With continual development and trying new parts and methods for possibly clawing a few more hp out of the 6g72 platform.
Almost everything in this car was a first for the platform. First one to use 12.5:1 pistons, First one to use an LS intake plenum adapter, First one to use a floor mounted pedal box, First one to break the 300whp wall, Now its going to be the first one to use a holley 300-207 dual quad intake plenum trying to even out the airflow across all 6 cylinders and possibly get more power out of it. And should make it some what easier to tune with progressive throttle bodies instead of a big single.First one to have a completely custom braking system with hand-made brake lines, First 3000gt SL with a shaved engine bay.
