The Story
The story behind my 93 Mazda RX7 build began when I purchased this car back in 2016 for 9k! It was the ULTIMATE HOMIE HOOK UP, as it was a running and driving FD. My friend, who was starting a family, wanted to see this car go to a rotary enthusiast (I've owned 6 RX7s), but it did have its flaws. Just about every rubber hose in the engine was petrified and disintegrated in my hand, the differential leaked, the gauge cluster didn't work, and the final straw was the secondary turbo never coming online!
Over the course of 2 years and a gargantuan amount of hours learning about the FD3S chassis, I tore the drivetrain out to fix leaks and refresh the old rubber bushings with polyurethane. I essentially took the 13B-REW down to long block form and replaced EVERYTHING from the oil fill neck to a brand new OEM engine harness.
For the interior and exterior, I aimed for the OEM+ look, not taking away too much from the timeless appearance the FD has to offer. Simple upgrades like a black with red stitching Nardi wheel and some carbon fiber accent pieces were added. I did respray the interior dash and center console units to have that black crinkle look like the '94 and up FDs.
